For some reason, nobody is talking about Titan Attacks from Puppy Games, the makers of Revenge of the Titans. And that’s just not right. It’s a beautiful blend of Galaga, Space Invaders and Asteroids. Throw in some Boss Battles, Upgrades and Achievements and you have quite the arcade shooter experience for only $4. You can’t beat that with a stick, bat or double edged katana.
As promised, the second Humble Indie Bundle launched today, bringing a whole new set of DRM-free games for charity. This year’s line-up includes Braid, Machinarium, Osmos, Cortex Command, and Revenge of the Titans, all for the low, low price of “whatever you want to pay.”
You can choose how to divide up your money among the game developers, the Electronic Frontier Foundation, and the Child’s Play Charity. All of the games are free of DRM as well, meaning you don’t have to worry about being locked out. This led to some piracy issues last year, but despite that the bundle raised over a million dollars. About $350,000 of that was sent to charities. This year, you can allocate some funds to tip the Humble Bundle itself, as a way of saying thanks and letting them know you want to see another Bundle next year.
Each game is available for PC, Mac, and Linux, leading to some good-natured competition among platform-holders. Last year, Linux users were about twice as generous as Windows users, and that sounds like a challenge. Go on and show your support for indie developers, legal protectors, and sick kids all at once.
